ARTISTS
Gabriel de Oliveira (Brasília, BR, 2001) works with sound and performance non-disciplinarily, spanning from a vibrant approach to guitar to cultural work. Simultaneously organizing KB_, they research multiple intersections of improvisation and songwriting as performer and bandleader. Their daring guitar playing inherits equally from Brazilian traditions and movements of creative music. Traditional and avant-garde are questioned and intertwined, constantly aiming for joyful catharsis.

Gabriel is a CvA graduate and Berklee Aspire 2017 scholarship recipient, having been on stage with names ranging from (Clube da Esquina’s) Toninho Horta to Oscar Jan Hoogland, and performing in spaces such as Paradiso, Frascati Theater, Stedelijk Museum, Le Guess Who?, Kunstinstituut Melly and North Sea Round Town.
“I’ve found myself particularly inspired by Gabriel’s compositional practice - I can hear how truly curious they are, and how devoted to living in the rich dialogue between songwriting and improvisation.”
